We have a heart for Jesus. We are a group of twenty people of mixed ages committed to the person and way of Jesus.
We have a heart for Hillsborough. We think that it is important to practically demonstrate the love of Jesus through our Church activities but also in the way we live our daily lives in this part of Sheffield. You’ll see some of our activities and stories on this site.We have a heart for each other. Hillsborough Tabernacle is a Congregational Church which means that we make decisions collectively. We pray, think and listen carefully for Jesus to speak to us through the Bible and each other. This means that we try to value the unique contribution that everyone makes.
Our hearts are uplifted in worship. Our shared time with God sustains as a community and as individuals. Our services are what you might expect from a mainstream chapel; lots of hymn singing and lots of warmth. There’s usually a sermon which helps us reflect on Scripture and think through what it means to follow the way of Jesus today. We pray prayers of praise to God, hope for ourselves and we pray on behalf of others in our hurting world. Our worship doesn’t follow a rigid pattern and often includes creative elements.
