Centenary of the Girls' Life Brigade at Tabs

On Sunday 5th July our morning service will celebrate the centenary of the church's work with girls and young women.  In 1926 May Pagden (later May Carnelly) had the vision to establish a group for girls here at Hillsborough Tabernacle ("The Tabs") and thus the 32nd Sheffield Girls’ Life Brigade was formed.  Its first meeting was on 7th July 1926.  The Girls' Life Brigade became part of the Girls' Brigade.  Although we are no longer are part of the Girls' Brigade, we continue working as the company always did through ACE for Girls, and we hope you will join us in celebrating Mrs Carnelly’s wonderful achievement, not forgetting all the leaders who have worked with girls throughout the century and all the girls whose lives have been touched by GLB/GB and Ace for Girls.   If you were a member or officer of the Girls' Brigade at the Tabs, please do get in touch - contact details on the ACE for Girls page linked above.

The Langsett Rd Salvation Army Corps also meet in the building - please see their website for details

Our Christmas Breakfast Church

Here is the Church Christmas Tree, and our Advent Candles.  We light one more each week until at Christmas, all are lit.   At the foot of the tree are presents we are collecting for the Salvation Army's toy appeal (here are contact for the Langsett Rd Corps - please contact them to find out more).

We held our Christmas Breakfast Church on 7th December and everyone made Rudolph out of candy canes.

Four red candles, in a ring, two are lit. In the centre, a fifth red candle. This whole Advent Ring is mounted on a circle of holly leaves

Two candy canes tied together with a pipe cleaner, to look like the face of a reindeer. The reindeer has a red nose and two eyes. The hook shape of the canes makes the reindeer's antlers.

A tall green Christmas tree, decorated with tinsel and baubles, with presents at the base

Defibrillator
There is an automated external defibrillator (AED) on the outside wall of the church.  You will need to call 999 to get the code to unlock the cabinet.   The postcode for the location is S6 4HF.   The What3Words for the location are ///barks.cigar.lend
